Indian Cleric: US–Israeli Plots against Islamic Republic Have Failed

The secretary general of India’s Majlis-e-Ulama (Assembly of Clerics) says decades-long plots by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran have failed in the face of popular unity and vigilant leadership.

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Maulana Seyyed Kalbe Jawad Naqvi said Washington and Tel Aviv have feared Iran’s Islamic system since the victory of the 1979 Revolution and have consistently worked to undermine it through political pressure, sanctions, and destabilization efforts.

Speaking to Hawzah News Agency, the senior Indian cleric strongly rejected what he described as fabricated media rumors claiming that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, had fled the country.

“Claims suggesting that Ayatollah Khamenei has left Iran are completely false and baseless,” he said. “The Leader of the Islamic system has never been someone who flees. Media outlets should abandon the reproduction of colonial propaganda and instead commit themselves to truth and honest reporting.”

Long-standing hostility toward Iran’s Revolution

Naqvi said from the very first day of the Islamic Revolution’s victory, the US and Israel have sought to crush it, adding that recent unrest is a continuation of the same hostile and colonial policies.

He pointed to the use of advanced and dangerous weapons by rioters as clear evidence of foreign backing.

“The possession of such weapons shows that these elements enjoy external support,” he said. “The enemies planned in a calculated manner to overthrow the Iranian government, but the Iranian nation, together with its vigilant leadership, thwarted this conspiracy.”

Distinguishing protest from sabotage

The Indian cleric drew a distinction between legitimate grievances and organized acts of sabotage carried out under the guise of protest.

“Actions committed in Iran in the name of protest are things no Muslim can engage in,” he said. “Mosques and Hussainiyas were set on fire, sacred sites and shrines were desecrated, public and state property was destroyed, and buildings were burned. These acts show that those responsible are not Muslims but agents of the US and Israel who infiltrated protests to create chaos.”

He added that similar attempts to plunge Iran into crisis have been made repeatedly in the past, but each time they were neutralized by national unity and farsighted leadership.

Sanctions, not governance, behind economic pressure

Responding to claims that protests were driven by high prices, Naqvi said the root cause of economic pressure lies in US sanctions rather than Iran’s internal policies.

“One must ask where inflation comes from,” he said. “It is not the result of Iran’s governance but the direct outcome of American sanctions. If there is any protest to be made, it should be against US sanctions, not against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He said the exploitation of economic grievances is part of a broader plot aimed at striking at the foundations of the Islamic Revolution.

Nuclear issue used as a pretext

Naqvi stressed that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has repeatedly and explicitly stated that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons, yet sanctions and military threats persist.

“This shows that the nuclear issue is merely a pretext to pressure and attack the Islamic system of Iran,” he said.

He noted that Iran has signed agreements with and cooperated fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency, yet continues to face sanctions, while countries that possess nuclear weapons are not subjected to similar measures.

“This double standard must be condemned by the international community,” he said.

Call for global accountability

Naqvi said arrogant powers are seeking excuses to weaken and attack Iran, but these plots have now been exposed.

In another part of his remarks, he criticized what he described as US bullying on the global stage, referring to the abduction of Venezuela’s president and the international community’s silence over the incident.

He expressed regret that even the Indian government failed to condemn the move and urged New Delhi to take a clear stance against US interference in Venezuela, Iran, and other sovereign nations.

“Who has given the United States the right to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries?” he asked. “If this behavior continues, the security of other governments will also be endangered. These actions must face a serious global response so that the US no longer dares to repeat such conduct.”

He concluded that growing awareness has rendered US–Israeli conspiracies ineffective, as nations increasingly recognize and resist what he described as coercive and interventionist policies.
